The Voice of Spring

And the cawing rooks are meeting

In the elms a noisy crowd.

All the birds are singing loud,

And the first white butterfly

In the sunshine dances by.

Look around you,look around!

Flowers in all the fields abound,

Every running stream is bright,

All the orchard trees are white,

And each small and waving shoot

Promises sweet autumn fruit.

March Wind

March wind,here it comes

Marching in with all its drums.

See it skip and whip through town,

Tangled branches tumbling down.

March wind,hear it shout:

I'm breathing in and breathing out.

And if you're patient,then one day

I'll even blow some spring your way.

But when she was bad she was horrid.

Dream Of A Day

When I was a little girl,

I always dreamed of this day,

I knew the words off by heart,

I knew exactly what I would say.

And I imagined my Daddy,

walking me down that aisle,

I could see the look on his face,

I could see the pride in his smile.

But life doesn't always run to plan,

I guess that's plain to see,

and some things just go and happen,

some things are just meant to be.

But this is meant to be a happy day,

happier for others than for some,

and I just wanted to share some thoughts,

because I wanted to tell you about my Mom:

My mother has been my inspiration,

she has guided me throughout my life,

and there are some words that I need to say,

especially now that I'm a wife :)

You've always been there for me,

just when I needed you the most,

and in a moment,we'll drink to you,

in a moment,to you we shall raise a toast.

Because you have shown me what love is for,

and the love that two people can have for one another,

you have shown me how to be a devoted wife,

and of course,how to be a wonderful mother.

Those six years were very tough,

but that's just when the tough got going,

and you showed Dad all of your love,

and gee,you did a lot of showing!

Even though you've lost the love of your life,

(and this is one of those meaningful rhymes),

The Lord will give you all of His strength,

to get you through your more difficult times.

And I will also always be there for you,

if you ever need a shoulder or a helping hand,

divided we shall fall and be conquered,

but together and united we will make a stand.

And if you need someone to just sit and listen,

then I'll be there just for you,

because after everything you've done for me,

this is the very least that I can do.

Today,I felt my father's spirit,

I could feel him proudly looking on,

I could feel his love for us all,

I could feel where his love brightly shone.

He just wants you to be happy,

I know this from deep inside my heart,

and he knows that he will love you forever,

and he knows that you'll never truly part.

And all that he will ever wish,

and this my dearest wish too,

is that I have such a wonderful marriage,

and that I'm loved as much as he loved you.

And today,my Daddy's spirit was with me,

and he did indeed walk me down that aisle,

and I imagined the look upon his face,

and yes,it was a very proud smile.

The Pride of Youth

Proud Maisie is in the wood,

Walking so early;

Sweet Robin sits on the bush,

Singing so rarely.

“tell me ,thou bonny bird,

when shall I marry me?”

-“when six braw gentlemen

kirkward shall carry ye.”

“who makes the bridal bed,

birdie,say truly?”

-“The gray-headed sexton

That delves the grave duly.

“The glowworm o’er grave and stone

Shall light thee steady;

The owl from the steeple sing,

Welcome,proud lady.”

踩着晨曦;

Beclouded

THE sky is low,the clouds are mean,

A travelling flake1 of snow

Across a barn or through a rut

Debates if it will go.

A narrow wind complains all day

How some one treated him;

Nature,like us,is sometimes caught

Without her diadem.

True Friend

Standing by

All the way

Here to help you

through your day

Holding you up

When you are weak

Helping you find what

it is you seek

Catching your tears

When you cry

Pulling you through

when the tide is high

Absorbing your voice

When you talk

Standing by when you

learn to walk

Just being there

Through thick and thin

All just to say

you are my friend

For if dreams die

Life is a broken-winged bird

That can never fly

Hold fast to dreams

For when dreams go

Life is a barren field

Frozen only with snow

Higher,higher,will we climb,

Up the mount of glory,

That our names may live through time

In our country's story;

在我们祖国的史册;

Happy,when her welfare calls,

He who conquers,he who falls!

Deeper,deeper,let us toil

In the mines of knowledge;

在知识矿藏中开发;

Nature's wealth and learning's spoil

Win from school and college;

从学校研究院吸纳;

Delve we there for richer gems

Than the stars of diadems.

Onward,onward,will we press

Through the path of duty;

推进这职责的常规;

Virtue is true happiness,

Excellence true beauty.

Minds are of supernal birth:

Let us make a heaven of earth.

There are gains for all our losses.

There are balms for all our pain;

我们所有的痛苦都能得到安慰;

But when youth,the dream,departs

It takes something from our hearts,

And it never comes again.

We are stronger,and are better,

Under manhood's sterner reign;

在严峻的成年生活驱使下;

Still we feel that something sweet

Following youth,with flying feet,

And will never come again.

Something beautiful is vanished,

And we sigh for it in vain;

我们枉自为此叹息;

We behold it everywhere,

On the earth,and in the air,

But it never comes again!

No young man believes he will ever die.

It was a saying of my brother's,and a fine one.

There is a feeling of eternity in youth,

which makes us amend for everything.

To be young is to be as one of the immortal Gods.

One half of time indeed is flown,

the other half remains in store for us with all its countless treasures,

for there is no line drawn,and we see no limit to our hopes and wishes.

We make the coming age our own-the vast,the unbounded prospect lies before us.

Death,old age are words without a meaning that pass by us like the idle air which we regard not.

Others may have undergone,or may still be liable to them-we “bear a charmed life”,

which laughs to scorn all such sickly fancies.

As in setting out on delightful journey,

We strain our eager gaze forward-bidding the lovely scenes at distance hail!

And see no end to the landscape,new objects presenting themselves as we advance.

So,in the commencement of life,

We set no bounds to our inclinations,

Nor to the unrestricted opportunities of gratifying them.

We have as yet found no obstacle,no disposition to flag;

And it seems that we can go on so forever.

We look round in a new world,full of life,and motion,and ceaseless progress;

我们看到四周一派新天地—生机盎然,变动不居,日新月异;

And feel in ourselves all the vigor and spirit to keep pace with it,

And do not foresee from any present symptoms how we shall be left behind in the natural course of things,decline into old age,and drop into the grave.

It is the simplicity,

And as it were abstractedness of our feelings in youth,that identifies us with nature,

可以说是茫然无知,因而将自己跟大自然划上等号;

And deludes us into a belief of being immortal like it.
